CABEZON

CAUGHT ALL YEAR

Cabezon
This is not a fish you will typically find at your local grocery store, but it is something our nearshore fleet brings aboard most of the year. The flavor of Cabezon's amazing, firm texture is influenced by the many shellfish that make up its diet.
Cabezon is not a rockfish; it is the world's largest species of sculpin! It can be found in the the Pacific from Alaska to Baja California. Like lingcod, some cabezon are blessed with a beautiful aqua marine hue, which is totally normal and adds a new level of impressiveness to your fillet!
We also catch
Sablefish – all year
Known also as black cod, or butterfish, it is highly prized for the robust sweet flavor of its delicate meat. Sablefish is a cornerstone catch for Port Orford fishing families.
